After capturing life and analysis two kilometres underground, three Sudburians are actually contenders in a global physics images contest.

Tasked with capturing the folks and science that make Sudbury’s deep underground analysis lab tick, eight Sudbury-based novice photographers took half within the SNOLAB Photowalk Competition in May.  

Each photographer submitted 5 photographs, and following “an internal adjudication process,” 40 pictures have been narrowed down to a few. 

Those three photographs shall be submitted to the Global Photowalk Competition, created by the Interactions Collaboration

The prime three pictures from SNOLAB are: 

  1. Delicate Work by Jason Innes
  2. Rough et prêt by David Gagnon
  3. SNOLAB underneath the floor by Ingris Leiva

A worldwide shortlist shall be introduced later in September, adopted by a public vote on-line. A number of the successful photographs shall be revealed within the CERN Courier and Symmetry magazine. 

In addition to the worldwide competitors, SNOLAB will curate native reveals of labor from all eight  native photowalk contributors later this fall. You can view a number of photographs from the  SNOLAB photowalk event online here.
