Tennis Wraps Up at Ultimate Day of Bulldog Invitational

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — The Rutgers girls’s tennis workforce completed its first weekend of play, wrapping up motion at Yale’s Bulldog Invitational on Sunday. 

Overall, RU left New Haven with 14 whole wins, 5 doubles, and 9 singles.

“This is a great tournament to kick off the season. All of these teams are well coached and compete hard,” head coach Hilary Ritchie mentioned after the ultimate match of the weekend. 

Doubles

One pair of Scarlet Knights got here away with a doubles victory towards Boston University.

Returners Zeynep Ilker and Karina Jumazhanova received their doubles match 6-2. This match marked Ilker’s third consecutive doubles win on the match. 

“I’m encouraged by doubles,” Ritchie mentioned. “We’re improving on positioning and taking charge of the net.”

Singles

Naomi Karki had a robust efficiency, profitable her match in straight units (6-2, 6-1).

“The team brought good energy each day, which resulted in competitive singles matches,” Ritchie added. “At practice, we will continue to emphasize playing offensively in the big moments.”

 

ITA All-Americans Recap

Mai Nguyen completed her second day at ITA All-Americans in Cary, North Carolina on Sunday. 

She competed very laborious towards a tricky opponent, finally falling to Wichita State’s Giorgia Roselli (6-1, 6-2).
