Guildford Mayor Howard Smith on the official launch of his calendar

Pictures taken by native beginner photographers have been used to create a charity calendar for Guildford.

It options native landmarks within the Surrey metropolis and from the encircling countryside.

Sales of the 2026 calendar might be elevating funds for the mayor of Guildford’s chosen charity.

One of the organisations to learn would be the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice, which has websites in Farnham, Guildford and Camberley.

Mark Randall, chair of Guildford Photographic Society, informed BBC Radio Surrey: “We tried to put in images that didn’t just reflect the town centre, we tried to get some of the villages, that was the challenge.

“We do like a undertaking, it is an effective way of getting photographers out with a goal.”

The pictures were taken by members of the Guildford Photographic Society

Mayor Howard Smith mentioned: “There’s a lot expertise in Guildford and the photographic society actually stepped up and received us some sensible pictures.

“We picked one for each month and managed to get some seasonal ones as well.”

Emily Reynolds, Phyllis Tuckwell’s neighborhood fundraiser, mentioned: “Around 25% of our funding is covered by the NHS and the government, but every single day we have to raise around £25,000.

“All of the care we give is freed from cost, so we rely closely on our area people to assist us. We’re actually fortunate to be concerned within the calendar.”

The winning pictures were unveiled by the mayor

Among the judges was Charlie Cluff, who is organising the first Guildford Festival of the Arts.

She said: “We had such an incredible array of pictures, I could not have faulted them.

“I wish we could have selected them all.”

Other organisations to learn from gross sales of the calendar are the Cheryl King Trust and the Guildford Shakespeare Company.
