Lake Michigan water rescue, man drifted mile out on swimming tube

RACINE COUNTY, Wis. – A person was rescued on Lake Michigan on Friday, Oct. 3, when he drifted a mile out from North Beach in Racine and was unable to swim again.

According to the Racine County Sheriff’s Office, at 6:40 p.m., the Racine Fire Department and Racine County Sheriff Dive Team have been dispatched to North Beach for a person that had drifted out of sight on a swimming tube.

Initial studies indicated that the person was final seen 300 yards from shore about half-hour earlier than the 911 name.

Several Racine firefighters have been deployed on shore by UTV with thermal imaging cameras. Racine Sheriff Boat 1 in addition to each Sheriff jet skis have been deployed from the harbor.

A search technique was developed primarily based on climate circumstances and water currents, deploying watercraft to the world of the Wind Point Lighthouse to conduct a search sample south in the direction of North Beach.

The 37-year-old Racine space resident was delivered to shore and positioned within the care of Racine Fire Department paramedics for analysis.
