VMI Males’s Swim & Dive earns first win in dominating trend

EMMITSBURG, Md. – VMI Men’s Swimming & Diving picked up its first win of the season towards Mount St. Mary’s at ARCC Swimming Pool on Saturday.
 
The Keydets earned a dominating 221-71 victory over the Mountaineers, breaking 13 short-course meter information and 13 first-place marks.
 
Highlighting VMI’s night was freshman Hudson Weinhagen, who destroyed a 13-year Rat file on the board. Weinhagen scored 258.50 factors within the one-meter, claiming second place.
 
Sophomore Jack Mills had himself a day, breaking three short-course meter information and tallying three first-place finishes within the 200 Fly (2:07.07), 100 Free (51.97), and 200 IM (2:10.42). Sophomore Stephen Russell shattered a pair of comparable information, incomes first within the 200 Free (1:55.83) and 400 Free (4:08.36).
 
Also claiming first place in record-breaking trend have been sophomore Caleb Wolf within the 800 Free (8:54.52), junior Sam Castle within the 100 Back (57.97), freshman Ian Lutz within the 50 Free (23.40), and junior Matthew Picard within the 100 Fly (56.92).
 
Sophomore Sam Calder snapped a short-course meter file within the 200 Back (2:14.00) en path to second place, whereas junior Austin Reeder collected second within the 100 Breast in file time (1:04.71).
 
On the boards, senior Lane Jones introduced house the gold within the one-meter, recording 264.05 factors.
 
In the relays, VMI picked up a pair of victories and record-breaking marks, with the 200 Free Relay squad of Lutz, Calder, Castle, and Picard (1:34.50) and the 200 Medley Relay staff of Castle, Tucker, Lutz, and Picard (1:43.16).
