DIRCO, UNISA and Rustenburg Municipality to host a G20 Townhall Outreach Programme

The Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO), in collaboration with the University of South Africa (UNISA) and the Rustenburg Municipality, will host a G20 Townhall Outreach Programme on Thursday, 30 October 2025, on the Civic Centre in Rustenburg.

The engagement will happen below the theme: Inclusive Economic Growth and Just Transition for Sustainable Societal Development.

South Africa’s G20 Presidency, below the overarching theme Solidarity, Equality, Sustainability, serves as a defining second to form world dialogues and promote inclusive development, peace, and sustainable improvement. As the primary African nation to host the G20 Leaders’ Summit, South Africa goals to amplify Africa’s voice in world governance and financial reform discussions.

This outreach kinds a part of the nation’s efforts to “take the G20 to the people,” guaranteeing that communities, enterprise formations, academia and civil society actively interact in conversations about how world financial selections can translate into tangible native advantages.

The engagement will concentrate on inclusive development and the “just transition”, significantly in sectors reminiscent of mining, agriculture and tourism, with emphasis on how all societal segments teams, together with girls, youth and native communities can take part equitably in financial alternatives.
