SIPRI Webinar: In the direction of Multilateral Coverage on Autonomous Weapon Techniques

The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) will host a public webinar on potential instructions for multilateral coverage on autonomous weapon techniques (AWS), following the publication of a brand new SIPRI report on this subject. 

Over a decade of deliberations on AWS has yielded restricted progress, with states divided on definitions, regulatory approaches and pathways for motion. The ensuing panorama is one in every of institutional complexity, political sensitivity and rising urgency. While the Group of Governmental Experts (GGE) on deadly AWS—convened beneath the auspices of the Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons—stays the predominant discussion board for dialogue and motion, new processes and hybrid approaches are gaining traction, demanding a nuanced strategy.
