Gauchos Head to Malibu for Twin Meets In opposition to Pepperdine and UC San Diego

Santa Barbara, Calif. – This week, the UC Santa Barbara swim group will head to a meet in Malibu, Calif., to tackle the internet hosting Pepperdine Waves and the UC San Diego Tritons. On Saturday, Nov. 15, the Gauchos will kick off at midday..  

Last Time Out

Both the boys’s and ladies’s groups went 1-1 of their twin meets towards Cal Baptist, San Diego State, and the University of Denver. The Blue and Gold gained each meets towards Cal Baptist and misplaced the pinnacle to heads to San Diego State (Women’s)  and University of Denver (Men’s).

Samantha Banos continued her domination within the 200 Fly, taking residence one other season better of 1:57.56 to associate with her three first-place finishes. She has gained the Big West Athlete of Week award 3 times to this point this season and appears to proceed her streak once more this Friday. Owen Berry, Elek Zettle, and Mason Wendler will look to go for the Gaucho podium sweep once more this week in Men’s 200 free like they did at Cal Baptist. Owen Berry took residence first with a time of 1:36.9, Elek Zettle introduced the silver again to Santa Barbara with a time of 1:38.31. Finally Mason Wendler capped off the Blue and Gold’s 200 Free sweep with a time of 1:38.52. 

A Look Ahead

After this Friday in Malibu, the Gauchos will start to organize to journey to Annapolis, Maryland for the Navy Invite. The Navy Invitation will happen over the course of Thursday, November 20 by means of Saturday, 22 and would be the remaining meet of 2025.
