The Park City Museum scores ‘The Perfect Shot’

“So even if you’re not the biggest sports fan, these sections are based on emotions that everybody can relate to,” she mentioned. “You can see these emotions so clearly in these photographs.”

“There’s a story about a shoot with Michael Jordan,” she mentioned. “Walter didn’t know what color Michael’s jersey was going to wear — white or red. So, Walter painted half of a parking lot blue and the other half red. When Michael arrived wearing red, they shot on the blue side.” 

Some of the exhibit’s images are motion pictures, whereas others appear like motion pictures however have been arrange, Titus mentioned.

“Walter did his research ahead of time, so he kind of knew where to be and what to expect so he could capture those spur-of-the-moment shots,” she mentioned. “The others were actually composed and pre-planned ahead of time, which meant he built a ramp so the athlete could be shot from below to capture that perfect angle.”

In addition to capturing skilled athletes, Iooss traveled and photographed non-professional athletes, particularly in Cuba, in line with Titus.

“There are several street-sport photos, and while the people aren’t professionals, they show how intensely focused they are on the games they are playing,” she mentioned.
