Take your mark: Badgers head coast to coast

MADISON, Wis. — The Wisconsin swimming and diving groups kick off the brand new 12 months with competitors on Jan. 3. The divers will head out East to tackle FIU in Miami, because the swimmers head out West to tackle UC San Diego and UCLA in La Jolla, Calif. 

Before the Badgers take their mark, listed below are 5 issues to know:

1. LAST TIME OUT

The Badgers closed out the autumn semester with a Senior Day meet at Soderholm at the start of December, honoring its graduating class within the ultimate dwelling meet of the season. Both groups concluded the day with a win, as the ladies’s aspect took down Illinois, 184-111, and the lads’s aspect topped Purdue, 156-104.

2. MOVING ON UP 

In the newest CSCAA ballot, the Badgers had small shifts after nearly a month off from motion. The girls now sit at No. 15, leaping up two spots from their place at No. 17. The males verify in at No. 19, shifting up one spot from No. 20. Both groups maintain a 4-1 report. 

3. DIVE RIGHT IN

Juniors Julia Herring and Ryane Neal shone on the nationwide stage on the USA Diving Winter Nationals over the winter break. Neal rounded out the week with an Eleventh-place end on the platform. The competitors got here after a profitable conclusion to the autumn season at dwelling, the place Herring, Neal and Zara Karimi collected all-time top-10 scores. 

4. LOOKING AHEAD

After the meets in California and Florida, the Badgers will return to the Midwest to tackle Northwestern on Jan. 17. Wisconsin will wrap up the common season at dwelling with the Badger Invitational on Feb. 6-7.
