Welcome to Week 12 of “I ship something new every week of 2026” 🛠️

I acquired kicked out of a café for engaged on my laptop computer a pair days in the past in Menton, Cote D’Azure (they don’t permit laptops after 11am). So I made a decision to create an app particularly for locating nice cafés to work from 👩🏼💻

It works by:
🟢 Scraping weblog posts & Reddit threads to seek out cafés explicitly really helpful for working
🔴 Flagging cafés identified to ban laptops
🟡 Filling within the gaps with Google Places knowledge
📍 Auto-detecting your location so that you see what’s close to you immediately
👥 Letting customers submit their very own updates (for a enjoyable neighborhood aspect)

Learnings:
• Doing one easy factor *rather well* takes SO for much longer than you assume it would (I believed this might take 3-4h complete)
• Scraping the web for knowledge in a systemised means is tremendous difficult and the toughest factor about this construct was truly getting strong preliminary data
• Juggling 4 APIs (Google Places, Brave Search, Mapbox, Claude) is an enormous ache
• It’s not easy to work out a person’s location both
