Sprinter Sophia Friestedt Lends 2027 Verbal to Utah

NEW COMMIT: Sprint freestyler Sophia Friestedt of Glenview, Illinois, has verbally dedicated to the University of Utah and can arrive in Salt Lake City forward of the 2027-28 season. Friestedt is a Junior National qualifier.

Regarding her dedication, she stated:

Friestedt does her membership swimming with NASA Wildcat Aquatics and most not too long ago competed on the NCSA Spring Championships the place she earned 4 greatest instances and finaled within the 50 free and 100 free. She competed at Juniors West in December and took seventeenth within the 50m free at Madison Futures final summer season.

Currently a junior at Loyola Academy, Friestedt positioned ninth within the 50 free and 14th within the 100 free on the 2025 Illinois State Championships after taking second in each of these occasions on the sectional meet the week prior. She raced to thirteenth place within the 50 free on the state meet throughout her sophomore season.

Utah completed seventh on the 2026 Big 12 Championships.
