Officers situation journey advisory for Mexican border state

TAMAULIPAS, Mexico — “Don’t do it.” That’s knowledgeable recommendation from Gary J. Hale, a Rice University drug coverage nonresident fellow, about touring to Reynosa, Mexico.

McAllen and Reynosa are sister cities within the southern portion of the border.

Mexican National Guard, federal police and state police are on heightened alert following this newest wave of violence. 

Spectrum News has been unsuccessful in confirming reviews of two folks shot and killed throughout gun battles.

This spherical of violence follows the loss of life of identified kingpin “El Mencho” again in February throughout a Mexican authorities raid. The U.S. authorities warned all Americans to not journey to Tamaulipas, and Hale can also be recommending that folks wait.

On Friday, Hale informed Spectrum News, “Wait, wait, wait until things calm down. Now, if you’re willing to take that risk with your life or your family’s life, then okay, that’s your decision.”

Tamaulipas has an extended historical past of violence, kidnappings, gun battles, extortion and homicide of U.S. and Mexican residents.
