Palmquist completed second to his former teammate – and three-time state champion – Carson Harrington finally yr’s state meet after inserting fourth as a freshman and sophomore. Prior to Harrington, the Cougars’ Kian Smith had gained the 2022 diving title.

“I’ve been runner-up [on our team] all of the past years; junior, sophomore and freshman year,” Palmquist said. “I’ve always had Carson Harrington beat me, as my teammate.”

This year – Palmquist’s senior season – was different though. Recording an impressive score of 621.15, Palmquist not only rose to the top, but he now owns the fifth-best all-classification mark in state meet history, and the third-best at the 4A level.
