Pittsburghers Can Now Journey to Mexico on a Finances

As Spirit Airlines exits the sport, one other low-cost airline is stepping as much as improve its presence in Pittsburgh.

According to Blue Sky News, the general public relations arm of Pittsburgh International Airport and the Allegheny County Airport Authority, Breeze Airways has introduced the addition of its first worldwide flights from PIT, together with a brand new Florida vacation spot, because the provider continues its development available in the market. 

Breeze’s multi-route enlargement from PIT will deliver nonstop service to Cancun, Mexico, and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. It may also introduce service to Vero Beach, Fla. — Pittsburgh’s first flights to the Treasure Coast.

“We are thrilled by the growth we have seen in Pittsburgh [and] are excited to start offering international service to guests in the area,” David Neeleman, Breeze Airways’ founder and CEO, says in an announcement. “Vero Beach, Punta Cana and Cancun are destinations we know our guests will love and we can’t wait to welcome them onboard.”

Service to Vero Beach will start Oct. 1, 2026, and flights to Cancun and Punta Cana will start Jan. 7, 2027. The new routes will function thrice per week seasonally on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, flown with 137-seat Airbus A220-300 plane.

The enlargement places Breeze as much as 18 nonstop routes from Pittsburgh, second solely to Southwest Airlines’ 21 locations. Since coming into the Pittsburgh market 5 years in the past with 4 preliminary markets, Breeze has efficiently expanded into underserved markets with its “point-to-point” community construction with fuel-efficient Airbus A220 plane, providing an elevated onboard expertise and inexpensive fares, in keeping with Blue Sky News.

Breeze’s announcement comes shortly after the airline started new service between PIT and Louisville, Ky. on April 30 and forward of its Myrtle Beach service launching July 3. Nonstop flights to Louisville and Myrtle Beach function seasonally, with Louisville flights supplied on Sundays and Thursdays and Myrtle Beach on Mondays and Fridays.

Additionally, Breeze has begun phasing in its summer time schedule from Pittsburgh, resuming quite a few seasonal routes together with Greenville, S.C.; Jacksonville, Fla.; and Portland, Maine on May 1. On May 8, it resumed service to Norfolk-Virgina Beach, Va. and San Diego. On June 2, it’ll resume service to Los Angeles.
