Two years in the past this Challenger Cities factor began off as what was meant to be a reasonably brief lived podcast experiment. We’re now 80+ episodes in, with a steadily rising viewers and a need to do extra.

A couple of weeks in the past in Singapore we examined this “salon” format out. I imply, it’s not likely a salon, and teenage me in Yorkshire would ridicule myself for being so pretentious. But it’s folks in a room who care in regards to the place they name residence, or work in, or have a life in and round.

Well we bought out the again room of The Cameron House in Toronto with an eclectic bunch of people that care about Toronto. Even I care about Toronto and I don’t reside there anymore!

I received’t go into tons of element about what we talked about. But we didn’t agree on all the things, we generally contradicted one another, the viewers was vocal with opinions & questions and I hope everybody left with some vitality for the smallest potential factor they’ll do proper now that makes a bit impression on their little bit of town.

I believe we will most likely name this a profitable experiment! So I’m down for one more. Though for enjoyable, we’ll possible swap up the format a wee bit too.

An enormous thanks to my friends too. Alex Bozikovic does a tremendous job saying the factor in public. Gil Penalosa talks with contagious ranges of ardour. Jen Angel is likely one of the greatest folks articulating what dangers we take by not taking danger. Ilana Altman represents town so positively bridging tradition and infrastructure with The Bentway. Maryam Siddiqi is a voice of city tradition I would like extra placemaking sorts to be impressed by. And Steven Paynter delivers constructive critique way more professionally than I can.

Thanks to all of the acquainted faces who come to random gatherings I pull collectively. And pretty to satisfy a load of recent faces too. Even those that we had some well mannered disagreements with!
