KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Tennessee Swimming & Diving program announced another addition to the squad ahead of the 2026-27 season. NCAA qualifier Kimmy Shannon joins the Lady Vols after a pair of seasons starring at Pitt.
The rising junior put together a strong postseason during her sophomore campaign in 2026, swimming four personal best swims at the ACC Championships. She totaled 33 points at the event and placed ninth overall in the 400 IM with a time of 4:04.82. The time in the 400 IM for Shannon set the program record for Pitt. Shannon finished the 2026 season at the NCAA Championships, representing the Panthers in the 400 IM, 200 IM, and 200 Back.
In her freshman season, Shannon qualified for both the ACC and NCAA Championships. At the 2025 ACC Championships, the Lewisburg, Pennsylvania native placed top ten in the 400 IM while touching the wall with a time of 4:08.47. Shannon was also a member of the 800 Free Relay team that set the then-program record in the event at the NCAA Championships of 7:03.38
Shannon is the second Pitt swimmer to transfer to Tennessee ahead of next season. Julian Koch joined the Vols earlier this month. One of the top male swimmers nationally, Koch placed fourth in the 100 Free at the NCAA Championships while setting a personal best time of 40.43.
