Researchers discovered 5 energetic whale falls and 485 whale fossil websites at depths starting from 4,616 to 7,001 meters. Previously, most recorded whale falls have been discovered at depths of lower than 4,000 meters, with the deepest energetic website at 4,204 meters within the southwest Atlantic.
