CBS Chicago reporter, photographer attacked close to Adler Planetarium – NBC Chicago

Three individuals have been taken into custody following a police chase after a CBS Chicago information crew was attacked whereas working close to Adler Planetarium on Monday afternoon, authorities stated.

The incident was reported at round 4:25 p.m. within the 900 block of East Solidarity Drive, simply outdoors the planetarium.

CBS Chicago stated a reporter and photographer have been getting ready for a newscast when two males rushed towards them, shouting racial slurs at one of many journalists.

Chicago police stated one suspect directed a canine to assault a sufferer, however the canine did not have interaction. One of the boys then smashed the photographer’s digital camera whereas the opposite broken the information van’s windshield, CBS Chicago reported.

Footage captured by an NBC Chicago photographer on the scene confirmed digital camera tools on the bottom surrounded by police tape, and heavy injury to the van’s entrance windshield.

Following the incident, the suspects left in a white truck and fled the scene in an unknown path.

A CBS spokesperson stated in a press release, “We are shocked and horrified by this crime and we are grateful that our journalists are safe.”

Ald. Julia Ramirez, of Chicago’s twelfth Ward, stated officers arrested three suspects after a pursuit ended at West thirty sixth Street and South California Avenue. Authorities stated the suspects have been fleeing from the incident involving the CBS Chicago crew.

No expenses had been introduced as of Monday night time.
