Watch: Florida deputies rescue exhausted snorkelers swept away by inlet present

OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla.- What authorities are calling a “close call” unfolded over the vacation weekend when two snorkelers discovered themselves in a important state of affairs after being swept farther from shore by a powerful present at Destin’s East Pass. 

On July 4, the highly effective present within the move pulled the 2 snorkelers out into the open water. Exhausted, the pair turned unable to swim again to shore, in accordance with officers.

They had been “running out of options” when two members of the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office Marine Unit had been on the water and noticed the distressed snorkelers who had been waving their arms for assist.

The deputies reached the pair, pulled them safely from the water and aboard the boat.

“Grab this. Grab this,” you hear one deputy say as a rescue tube is lowered into the water.

Bodycamera footage captures the whole exhaustion of the pair, worn down by the highly effective present as they lie on the deck to relaxation.

The two had been then introduced again to shore with out harm.

“Please remember the currents in the Pass can be extremely strong and carry even good swimmers out from shore,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook publish concerning the incident.
