State Department points worldwide journey warning for Americans

July 21 (UPI) — The U.S. Department of State issued a worldwide warning for vacationers due to rising battle within the Middle East “with the potential for unforeseen escalation.”

The State Department issued the “worldwide caution” Monday and said that “U.S. diplomatic facilities, including outside the Middle East, have been targeted.”

“Due to heightened tensions in the Middle East, the security environment remains complex with the potential for unforeseen escalation,” the statement said. “Iran and groups supportive of Iran may target other U.S. interests overseas or at locations associated with the United States and Americans throughout the world.”

It additionally mentioned to organize for potential flight cancellations, airspace closures and journey disruptions.

The State Department urged Americans abroad to enroll within the STEP program to get the newest safety alerts and to comply with the division’s WhatsApp Channel or follow on X.

The United States has continued to strike Iran for 10 straight nights. The Department of Defense on Monday recognized two U.S. troopers killed Friday by an Iranian strike in Jordan. Another unidentified soldier was killed Saturday in Iraq, and one other is lacking.

At least 17 U.S. service members have been killed since February, and greater than 400 have been injured.
