Unity broadcasts devoted engine help for Netflix Games

Unity has launched dedicated engine support for Netflix platforms, making it simpler for builders to ship titles on the streaming platform’s ecosystem.

Netflix has maintained a powerful relationship with Unity over time, with video games constructed on the engine together with Black Mirror: Thronglets, Unhinged, and Squid Game: Unleashed.

The new engine help will assist builders by offering optimisation for cloud gaming, enabling cross-platform builds, and simplifying recreation entry for gamers.

Netflix-owned Night School Studio has used the engine for its newest video games.

The developer beforehand highlighted its use of various Unity technologies on Black Mirror: Thronglets, particularly “the physics engine for quickly prototyping and kickstarting ideation.”

Last week, Unity introduced its newest engine, Unity 7, which will start beta testing this December and have a full launch scheduled for Q1 2027.

Unity 7 might be a direct continuation of the present engine, with new options already “shipped and production-verified” inside it.

“Because the architecture underneath doesn’t change at the moment of version transition, teams can adopt with ease, with the workflows they depend on remaining fully supported,” mentioned Unity SVP of product Adam Smith.
