Terminally Online
This is Terminally Online: PC Gamer’s very personal MMO column. Every different week, I’ll be sharing my ideas on the style, interviewing fellow MMO-heads like me, taking a deep-dive into mechanics we have all taken with no consideration, and, sometimes, bringing in visitor writers to speak about their MMO of alternative.
Ah, the MMO stock. The pleasant abstraction meaning we need not truly assume all that arduous about the place to retailer the tons of of 1000’s of pelts, steaks, enamel, claws, trinkets, cash, crystals, and so-on that we accrue. Our luggage are stuffed with crap, it’s custom.
On the one hand, I’m grateful for it. I’m out right here to grind and run dungeons, not attempt to Jenga-stack a briefcase Resident Evil-style. On the opposite hand, good lord does my head spin each time I open up my stock and gaze upon the horrors of my very own continual lack of organisation. I despair. Please do not inform individuals how I dwell.
I may argue that it is the sport’s fault. Giving me an auto-sorting characteristic means I can endure a descent into of disorganisation with out a lot hassle. At the very least, if I click on a button, all of my junk might be organised by sort. Often, these methods aren’t how I’d do it. For occasion, I’d find it irresistible if all of the gear I’m de-synthing in FF14 may cease being within the preliminary stock slots. But they’re nonetheless helpful.

And but I do not characterize nearly all of all MMORPG gamers (regardless of my finest efforts, I’m nonetheless engaged on the hive thoughts factor). And neither do you, statistically talking—these are video games frequented by thousands and thousands of gamers, and I’m not that smug to imagine this column is that fashionable.
However, I wish to get an concept of how tidy Terminally Online readers are. After all, we all know you are fashionable, like your keybinds, and mostly healers. So please, satisfy my curiosity: Are your bags full of junk, or have you sorted your demicrystalised megalized torment orbs or whatever by both colour and patch release date?
Or, are you utterly lost in heaps of garbage like I am. And hey, maybe that’s part of the charm—after all, there was a time where an MMO’s inconvenience was part of the experience.
