The advisory is due to blowing and drifting snow and near zero visibility causing dangerous travel conditions. The advisory includes Interstate 29 from Buxton to the Canadian Border.
The no travel advisory issued at 7:36 a.m. is still in effect for southeastern North Dakota including Valley City, Wahpeton, Fargo, Hillsboro, Lisbon and surrounding areas. The advisory means conditions are such that motorists should not travel in these areas and be advised that they may encounter heavy snow drifts at structures and sheltered areas and some roadways may be reduced to one lane due to heavy winds.
A travel alert is also in effect for northeastern North Dakota due to blowing snow creating reduced visibility and slippery road conditions especially near bridges and other structures. Cities included in theTravel Alert are Adams, Cavalier, Larimore, Grand Forks, and surrounding areas.
Motorists are encouraged to reduce speeds, drive according to the conditions and always wear your seat belt.
