Rachel Schweitzer and her household are northeast Portland residents and attend C3 Church NE PDX within the Cully neighborhood.

Rachel was conscious of the meals insecurity skilled by many in the neighborhood and, with the assist of her church and her pastors, Seth and Kaz Brooks, she took on the management of C3 Meals Pantry in partnership with the Oregon Meals Financial institution.

Rachel grew up as a baby of missionary Lutheran mother and father in Papua, New Guinea. She moved to Portland to check at Concordia College, and she or he has served in varied ministry roles over time.

Based on Rachel, she felt a calling to serve in sensible methods in her area people. Though the church is at present not assembly in individual due to COVID-19, the meals pantry continues to serve the group as a vital service.

The C3 Meals Pantry now has drivethrough and pick-up service at 6120 N.E. 57th Ave., the nook of 57th and Portland Freeway. It’s open Tuesdays and Saturdays from midday to 1 p.m.

Rachel remarked, “If you have a neighbor, friend or family member who needs food assistance, you are welcome to pick up for them.”

Every meals field contains recent produce and milk, and it holds about $100 to $150 price of groceries.

Groceries are given out to about 150 households per distribution day. Rachel mentioned the necessity has grown fivefold because the pandemic started. C3 Meals Pantry receives donations from Oregon Meals Financial institution and different meals pantries, nonprofit businesses, supermarkets and people.
