This week, the DECC hosted the thirteenth annual ITE Great Lakes District Annual Meeting. That means transportation engineers in the home! And they’ve been a enjoyable lot.

Representing over 1,900 professionals and college students from Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin  (whew, that’s a lotta locations!), the group gathered for transportation discuss and a bit of enjoyable.

And with a bit of assist from our planners, they acquired artistic for his or her late afternoon session: the beloved TRAFFIC BOWL –assume Jeopardy with solely transportation questions. The scholar rivals had been repping University of Wisconsin Madison vs. Michigan State University, and competing to host the famed trophy, a $1,000, and a spot on the International Traffic Bowl in New Orleans.

As they entered the stage to their faculty’s theme songs, the gang reacted with the eagerness that solely alums could make occur. The emcee defined that contestants will hear the ding of a bell for proper solutions whereas unsuitable solutions would set off the unhappy fog horn from Duluth’s previous.

 

 

The tech for the occasion was spectacular with site visitors lights, sound results, and even occasion “Daily Doubles.”  Also a draw had been the bar, lovely meals unfold, and standing cocktail tables. It was an effective way to unwind from a day of periods.

This is the primary time the convention has been on the Duluth and on the DECC.  “It’s been an easy venue to work with – the foods been great, the rooms set up well and when we were struggling with the tech we brought, someone came right away to help us,” stated Lisa, an attendee.

Colleen, attending from Illinois, stated, “Duluth has been very welcoming and a great success! Love being by the water – I hope we come back!”
