US swimmer rescued by coach after fainting in pool throughout world championships

Anita Alvarez, 25, an Olympic inventive swimmer, was in the midst of her routine on the FINA World Aquatic Championships in Budapest, Hungary, when she misplaced consciousness and commenced sinking to the underside of the pool.

“Our sport is no different than others, just in a pool, we push through limits and sometimes we find them,” she said.

Fuentes also said Alvarez “feels good now” and is resting all day Thursday within the hopes of regaining her power for the crew finals. 

This isn’t the primary time Alvarez has misplaced consciousness throughout a contest. She additionally fainted briefly in the water during an Olympic qualifying event in Barcelona last year, when she was additionally rescued by Fuentes.
