South Orange, N.J. — Seton Hall head women’s soccer coach Josh Osit has announced the additions of Noelle Picone and Nick Heinemann as assistant coaches to his first coaching staff.

Picone joins the Pirates following a one-year stint as an assistant coach at her alma mater Fairleigh Dickinson, where she helped lead the Knights to two NEC regular season championships as a collegian. Heinemann currently serves as technical director at the prestigious Player Development Academy and has been with the club since 2013.

Similar to Osit, Picone and Heinemann carry deep New Jersey ties and extensive experience recruiting and coaching elite student-athletes.

“Bringing on two individuals and coaches of Noelle and Nick’s caliber is a huge benefit to our program,” said Osit. “Establishing a solid foundation for Seton Hall women’s soccer in year-one is critical and I can’t think of two better people to help carry out our vision. Noelle and Nick will also play a big role in establishing us in not just the Garden State but the entire Northeast.”

This past season with Picone on the bench, FDU went 10-6-4 and advanced to the finals of the NEC Tournament. She also helped two Knights land on the All-NEC First Team and two more on the All-NEC Second Team.

Prior to her return to FDU, Picone spent over five years with The College of New Jersey as the program saw an incredibly successful stretch of play, going 70-5-6 with four NCAA Tournament appearances during her time as an assistant coach. Picone helped guide the Lions to three consecutive NJAC championships from 2017-19 and the Division III Final Four in 2017 while also mentoring nine All-Americans in her time on staff.

Picone brings with her a wealth of knowledge as not just a successful coach, but as a player at both the collegiate and post-collegiate level. Picone spent time with the NJ Wildcats W-League and WPSL semi-professional teams following her time at FDU. While at FDU, Picone was a part of two NEC Regular Season Champions, including the 2015 side that won both the regular season and NEC Tournament crown, en route to an NCAA Tournament berth. As an individual, Picone was a two-time All-NEC Second Team honoree, as she made 77 appearances over her career. She graduated from FDU with degrees in biology and psychology and she holds a Master’s degree in counseling.

Heinemann has held a myriad of roles at Player Development Academy including tournament director, director of camps and programs and youth technical director before solidifying his current post as technical director of the organization. As technical director, Heinemann oversees 12 coaches at PDA, recruitment of players and serves as liaison between PDA and U.S. Soccer. He has also been the head coach of ECNL Blue Team since 2013 where he has developed multiple U.S. Youth National Team players, won a national championship in 2019 and advanced to the national finals this past year. Heinemann holds a USSF A License.

A native of Yorkshire, England, Heinemann played professionally in England and the United States from 2001-05. His first taste of coaching came with the New York Red Bulls in youth development before joining Far Post Soccer in Flemington, New Jersey in 2009.

Both will work under first-year head coach Josh Osit, a New Jersey native who has had success as a recruiter and tactician within Northeast Div. I soccer for a decade.
