BLACKSBURG – Head Coach Tony Robie announced the 2022-2023 Virginia Tech wrestling schedule on Wednesday, which features five marquee home matchups.

“We feel like this year’s team is among the best we’ve had here at Virginia Tech and we’re excited to test that this season once again,” Robie said. “We assemble our schedule as a representation of the team we have and pride ourselves in creating one of the most competitive schedules in the country.”

After another top-10 finish at the 2022 National Championships, the Hokies are ready for another strong season which starts with the Southeast Open on November 5 at Roanoke College beginning at 10 a.m.

Tech will then travel to Big Ten and national powerhouse, Ohio State, on November 11 at 7 p.m. for the first dual of the season. The Hokies will then travel east the following weekend to Philadelphia for the Keystone Classic hosted by UPenn on November 20.

Following a one-week break, the Hokies will then fly cross country to the prestigious Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational from December 2-3. The tournament consistently features a handful of the nation’s top programs and among the nation’s best individual wrestlers.

Tech will then close out the 2022 schedule with a home-opener against the nationally touted Missouri Tigers in Cassell on December 11 at 7 p.m.

The last tournament on the Hokies’ schedule includes the Southern Scuffle – another talent and NCAA resume-laden tournament – to ring in the New Year on January 1-2 in Chattanooga, TN.

Tech begins the rest of the dual schedule by hosting national contender, Cornell on January 6 at 7 p.m. in the Moss Arts Center – a match experienced that is among the most unique in NCAA wrestling. The Hokies will then travel north on January 8 to face George Mason at 1 p.m. and American University at 5 p.m. Tech will then close out non-conference competition on the road against App State on January 13 at 7 p.m.

Friday Night Duals are back again and ACC competition begins with fireworks at home on January 20 against rival, NC State, in Cassell Coliseum at 7 p.m. The past five conference championships have come down to the two teams and this year will look to prove the same. The Hokies will then host Pitt on January 17 in Cassell the following weekend at 7 p.m.

Tech will then take the road against Duke on February 3 at 7 p.m. and North Carolina on February 10, also at 7 p.m. before closing out the regular season against UVA on February 17 at home in Cassell Coliseum at 7 p.m.

Post-season will feature the 2023 ACC Championships in Raleigh, NC on March 5 at Reynolds Coliseum. The 2023 NCAA Championships will follow two weeks later in Tulsa, OK at the Bank of Oklahoma Center from March 16-18.

The Hokies welcome a few newcomers and return multiple starters from the 2021-2022 campaign, including NCAA champion and two-time finalist Mekhi Lewis, and returning All-Americans Sam Latona, Bryce Andonian, and Hunter Bolen.
