LUDINGTON — Ludington’s girls swimming and diving team opened its season Saturday hosting a relay meet against Traverse City, Muskegon Mona Shores, Cadillac and Manistee.

The Orioles picked up three first places — the 400-yard individual medley relay (Erika Hatch, Kylie Sailor, Kylie Hatch and Madison Bearup) in 5:11.71, the 500 Crescendo Relay (Ayiana Rangel swimming the 50 free, Kylie Sailor swimming the 100 free and Izzie Lundberg swimming the 200 free) in 5:48.39, and the 200 freestyle relay (Reese Willis, Cora Mahler, Erika Hatch and Bearup) in 1:50.10.

“After two weeks of practice, I was happy with how the team performed,” said coach Kelley Hatch. “Many girls had the opportunity to race in events that they don’t normally swim.”
