PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. – Coastal Carolina University’s Trey Crenshaw was the individual medalist at the Golfweek Fall Challenge after firing a three-round 18-under 198 (65-68-65), setting both a career and program record along the way.

His 18-under score set a new 54-hole program record, eclipsing the previous mark of 15-under that was held by former CCU standouts Dustin Johnson (2) and Zack Byrd. His 54-hole score of 198 tied the previous-best mark set by Johnson back in 2005.

Along his incredible three-day tournament, Crenshaw recorded 19 birdies, one eagle, and only three bogeys. In today’s final round, in which he pulled away from the rest of the field, he had nine birdies, including five consecutive to open the day’s round, and only two bogeys to pick up his first collegiate win.

“What a performance, Trey’s victory at the Golfweek is the all-time 54-hole scoring record for Coastal Carolina men’s golf,” head coach Jacob Wilner said. “He will remember this week for the rest of his life.”

Alex van Wyk and Connor Bennink also participated as individuals in the Golfweek event, with van Wyk finishing the event tied for 38th after shooting a two-over 218 (70-75-73), while Bennink finished tied for 47th with a four-over 220 (73-74-73).

In the team standings, Jacksonville State, Wright State, and Presbyterian College ran away from the field. JSU won the event by firing a 28-under 836. Wright State (-26, 838) finished only two shots back, while Presbyterian (-20, 844) finished third.

Samford and Delaware finished tied for fourth, each sporting an eight-under 856. There was a three-way tie for sixth between Gardner-Webb, Southern Indiana, and Tennessee Tech, which finished the tournament at six-under 858.

Rounding out the field was Temple (-3, 861), Eastern Kentucky (+3, 867), Austin Peay (+5, 869), Stephen F. Austin (+14, 878), and Queens College (+23, 887).

CCU will be back on the course for the J.T. Poston Invitational on Sept. 26-27 at the Country Club of Sapphire in Sapphire, N.C. Western Carolina will host the event.
