First and Second Round Results | Third Round Scoring 

 

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – The Kennesaw State women’s golf team finished third on the leaderboard after 36 holes at the Nittany Lion Invitational on Saturday.  

The Owls posted an 11-over 587 score over the first two rounds. Their 2-under 286 score tied for first through the first 18 holes of the event.

The Black and Gold finished ten strokes ahead of ASUN foe Eastern Kentucky on day one. 

LEADING THE TEAM: 

Meva Schmit led the team with a 2-over 146 on the day and posted a team-best 2-under 70 in the first round. Schmit led all individuals in pars with 29 and stands tied for 10th in the event. 

SCORECARD: 

Cameron Neilson finished second on the team with a 3-over 147 score. Neilson sits tied for 14th and paces the team with seven birdies. 

Junior Lara Jecnik shot 1-under 71 in her first round of the season and enters round three tied for 22nd. She has an overall score of 4-over 148 in the event and is tied for 5th among participants with 26 pars. 

Bella Kil stands tied for 35th place with a 7-over 151 score. She shot a 1-over 73 score in round two after carding a 78 in the opening round. Kil scored the lone eagle for the Owls on the 18th hole in the second round. 

Kil and Neilson led the field in par-5 scoring with a 4.50 average. 

Caitlyn Campbell-Nyman posted a scorecard of 154 across the two rounds of action on Saturday. She is second on the team with six birdies. 

Freshman Nyah Kelly made her career debut as an individual participant, shooting a 158 on day one. 

 

GOLF CART NOTES: 

>>The Owls’ score of 286 in the first round tied the program-best for a season-opening round.   

>>KSU is tied for the lead in pars (117) and par-5 scoring (4.85 average).  

>> The team has the third-most birdies (23) in the tournament.   

 

NEXT TEE TIME: 

The Owls tee off Sunday, Sept. 18 at 8:30 a.m. for round three of the Nittany Lion Invitational.
