One of Baltimore’s largest community events is back again bringing cheer and charm to the cobblestone.

The 56th annual Fells Point Fun Festival will be held Sept. 30 to Oct. 2 on Thames Street along the waterfront in historic Fells Point.

The free entry event will offer live music performances; hundreds of food, drink, retail vendors; and a load of fun for the entire family.

Organizers started the festival in 1967 as a fundraiser to fight against a project that would have destroyed parts of Fells Point to connect I-83 and I-95.

According to festival officials, the event continued annually and has now grown to cover six city blocks and welcomes over 50,000 attendees.

Current festival organizers, The Preservation Society, work at preserving the rich history that is within Fells Point and Federal Hill by maintaining buildings and offering historic tours.

Although the festival is free, adult beverage drink tickets will be available for purchase, with proceeds benefitting The Preservation Society’s efforts.

The festival will feature live performances by Brett Dennen, Rebirth Brass Band, Southern Avenue, Honey County, and Friday’s headlining duo, The War and Treaty. The husband and wife duo who were awarded the 2021 International Folk Music Awards ‘Artist of Year’ describes their sound as “bluesy but joyful fusion of Southern soul, gospel, Country, and rock-and-roll.”

Attendees can enjoy music from many different genres including rock, blues, and country while indulging in countless food options such as crab cakes, pit beef, fried dough, and tacos.
