St. Paul, Minn. — St. Thomas Swimming & Diving earned a season-opening win over Green Bay during the final relay event of the meet Friday afternoon at the AARC Pool. The 200 yard freestyle relay team of Elizabeth Bonneville, Libby Fischer, Grace Urkiel and Megan West took first to seal a 157-143 win.
 
The Tommies totaled eight event wins, including the relay of Bonneville, Fischer, Urkiel and West with a time of 1:38.67.
 
Sophomore Ashley Plantenberg brought home a win in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:07.98. She beat out second place by 0.13 seconds.
 
In addition to the meet-winning relay, Bonneville earned a first-place finish in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:56.11.
 
Freshman Libby Fischer won the 100 backstroke with a time of 59.78, over one second faster than second place.
 
Urkiel and Plantenberg finished first and second, respectively, in the 200 breaststroke with times of 2:27.00 and 2:30.19.
 
Freshman Rebecca Bishop, junior Ella Palmquist and sophomore Lily Linden swept the top three finishes in the 100 butterfly. Bishop took first with a time of 1:01.53, Palmquist finished second with a time of 1:02.45 and Linden finished in 1:02.54.
 
Senior Allison An brought home a win in the 3-meter dive with a score of 239.10.
 
Junior Carly Wolf won the 200 IM with a time of 2:16.33.
 
The 200 freestyle relay team of Bonneville, Fischer, Urkiel and junior Megan West won the event with a time of 1:38.67.
 
The Tommies continue their weekend Saturday with a trip to Sioux Falls, S.D. St. Thomas and Augustana will begin their dual at 2 p.m.
