Emmitsburg, Md (October 8, 2022) – The Mount St. Mary’s swim and dive teams traveled to Washington D.C. to compete head-to-head versus Howard today. Both teams competed in 24 events. The men’s team lost to Howard with a final score of 151-67, while the women’s team lost to Howard with a final score of 144-69.
 
The Mountaineers’ men’s team placed second in the 4×4 400-yard medley relay as swimmers Jason Fitch, Aidan Grady, Jacob Wallace, and Austin Toland ranked in the top 50 nationally, tallying a time of 3:27.83 and earning four points. Nicholas Santorelli finished in second place in the 100 yard freestyle with a final time of 47.16 seconds, earning his team an additional four points.
 
Grady logged 2:05.99 in the 200-yard breaststroke, also ranking in the top 50 nationally. The Mountaineers’ 4×400 freestyle relay team became the third top 50 ranked unit with a time of 3:09.36.
 
Meghan Speicher logged a time of 11:15.12 in the 1,000-yard freestyle placing first in the event, earning her team an additional nine points. Abigail Steckiel finished second in the 200-yard freestyle logging a final time of 1:59.12 earning an additional four points for the women’s team.
 
As a team the women’s strongest placement was in the 4×4 400-yard medley as swimmers Meghan Speicher, Christina Lazari, Dahna Yoon, and Emiley Lynch a final time of 4:06.14, placing second in the event.

The next competition for the Mount swim and dive teams is on October 29 at 1 P.M. in a dual meet at the ARCC Swimming Pool in Emmitsburg.
