LAWTON, Okla. – After almost a month away from the course, the Lubbock Christian Lady Chaps return to the links this week, heading to Lawton, Okla. for the Oklahoma Intercollegiate on Oct. 10-11.

The 36 hole tournament features: No. 25 Oklahoma Christian, RV Midwestern State, Angelo State, Cameron, McLennan CC, Ranger CC, Seminole State, and Texas A&M Kingsville. 

At their last tournament, Aspen Escamilla reset multiple personal bests on her way to a seventh place finish at the ASU Concho Classic on Tuesday, Sept. 20.

The junior out of Midland, Texas recovered from four bogeys on the back nine to card six straight pars to shoot a six-over 78 in the second round at the Bentwood Country Club. Aspen Escamilla finished the tournament with a nine-over 153 two-round score, beating her previous two-round best of 161 at the 2021 BU Spring Break Classic by eight strokes.

Aspen Escamilla shot six-over for an average score of 4.30 on par fours, the sixth best score of the field. She also shot even par on par fives, tied for the seventh best score in the field on the longest holes at the Bentwood Country Club. Her 22 pars were tied for sixth most in the field.

As a team at the Concho Classic, the Lady Chaps finished fifth with a 62-over 638 two-round score. Lubbock Christian shot a 32-over 320 on the final day of the tournament. LCU was the third best team on par threes, shooting 18-over for an average score of 3.45 on the shortest holes. 

Individually, Prestley Hammond leads the Lady Chaps after two tournaments, shooting an average score of 76 through five rounds of golf. Hammond shot a two-under 70 in her first round of the season at the West Texas A&M Invitational earlier this season. 

The Lady Chaps have shot an average score of 310 through five rounds of golf this season. Their three round score of 912 back at the West Texas A&M Invitational set a new school record for best three-round score in program history. 

LCU last competed at the Oklahoma Intercollegiate in the 2020 fall season, finishing 10th with a two round score of 684. The Lady Chaps had to play two rounds of golf in one day as rain canceled the opening round of the tournament. 

Monday, Oct. 10 begins with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m. followed by the final round on Tuesday, Oct. 11, also beginning at 9:00 a.m. Results will be available following each round at lcuchaps.com
