EUROJET Secures Landmark Deal for 59 Engines Boosting Spain’s Eurofighter Fleet

The EJ200 engine, a result of cooperation among Rolls-Royce, MTU Aero Engines, ITP Aero, and Avio Aero, has consistently showcased extraordinary performance since its initial production delivery.

Rolls-Royce is set to play a crucial role in the production of the engine module, leveraging its unparalleled expertise and innovation to fulfill the needs of the Spanish Air Force.

The agreement was formalized at Getafe Air Force Base in Madrid by the General Manager of NETMA, Air Vice Marshall (AVM) Simon Ellard (ret.), and CEO of EUROJET Ralf Breiling, encompassing EJ200 engines intended for the Eurofighter Typhoon fighter aircraft within the second phase of the Halcón acquisition project.

The engines, destined for assembly at the ITP Aero Facility in Ajalvir, are anticipated to be delivered starting in 2029. Renowned for its remarkable performance record, along with its multi-role capability and highest operational availability at competitive life-cycle costs, the EJ200 engine is ideally equipped to satisfy air force requirements both now and into the future.

Since the delivery of the first production engine in 2003, more than 1,400 EJ200 production engines have been supplied to Air Force fleets of nine countries, accumulating over 1.5 million flight hours.
