Teenager Rescued from Forest After Online Gamer Exploits Her Trust in Disturbing Case

A 14-year-old girl was abandoned for most of a week during Christmas in a forest, after a predator she encountered in a video game had sexual relations with her, learned about her age, and subsequently left her there with a tent and some provisions, as reported by authorities.

The young girl from Tennessee initially encountered Alexander Materne, 28, face-to-face on Dec. 23 when the alleged offender took her from her residence and transported the minor to his home in St. Rose, Louisiana, as per the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office.

During their time at Materne’s residence, the couple engaged in sexual activities — at which point the girl disclosed her age to the 28-year-old, the news bulletin states.

Materne subsequently packed a tent, food, and water before leaving the young girl in the wilderness of the Louisiana backcountry in Tangipahoa Parish — and then proceeded to celebrate Christmas with his family, as stated by the sheriff’s office.

When the young girl was unaccounted for over an extended time during — her worried family discovered the connection between her and the older man.

The family contacted Materne’s relatives and managed to communicate with individuals who were present at the Christmas gathering.

Deputies from the sheriff’s office disrupted the family Christmas celebration and compelled Materne to show them the location where he left that unfortunate girl, according to the release.

The 14-year-old was located in good condition and transported to a hospital for additional assessment.

Materne was charged with one count of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor and one count of Aggravated Kidnapping of a Child.
