Cooper DeJean Engages with Young Fans: A Q&A Session with Eagles Kids Club Members

Cooper DeJean has been grabbing attention throughout his inaugural season in Philadelphia.

The second-round selection has adapted well to Defensive Coordinator Vic Fangio’s strategy and the Eagles’ defensive system while effectively serving as a punt returner due to the absence of Britain Covey.

Though DeJean has faced a good number of inquiries from journalists in his first year, he had one of his most distinctive press interactions thus far with members of the Eagles Kids Club.

The Eagles Kids Club (ages 5-12), sponsored by ACME and Rita’s, provides members with access to exclusive competitions and merchandise, invitations to must-attend events, chances to engage with players (like posing questions to Cooper DeJean during a press event), and more.

Here are some of the standout answers from the Q&A segment:

What is the best piece of advice a coach has ever shared with you?

“That’s an interesting question. The best advice I’ve received from a coach is pretty straightforward. My father, Jason, coached me as I grew up, and he always emphasized that if you possess dreams, goals, and ambitions, they won’t just be given to you. You must put in substantial effort every single day to achieve them. That’s the principle he ingrained in me as I was growing up – to consistently work hard in pursuit of my dreams and, hopefully, reach them one day.”

What feelings did you experience when you were drafted by the Eagles?

“There were numerous feelings at play. There were some tears involved. It’s a lengthy journey, which can be quite stressful not knowing your destination until that phone call arrives. I was thrilled; it was a dream fulfilled for me. It’s something I always envisioned – receiving that call and hearing my name. There was tremendous excitement that evening.”

How did you end up with the number 33?

“There were only a few numbers available for me to choose from. I wore number three in college, but since that was already claimed when I arrived, I opted for 33 by adding another three to my jersey.”

What do you miss the most about Iowa?

“Probably being around my family and friends there. My family resides in Iowa; they manage to attend most of the games, but the time spent with them is truly what I miss the most about home.”

Have you always played as a cornerback?

“In high school, I played both safety and quarterback. Once I reached college, I started as a safety for a brief time before transitioning to cornerback midway through my freshman year. That’s where I’ve remained ever since.”

What’s been your favorite aspect of your rookie season?

“I think the highlight is playing at Lincoln Financial Field during our home games; that’s likely my favorite part. It’s an incredible stadium with amazing fans who create a loud and vibrant atmosphere. That’s probably what I cherish the most.”

Who is your favorite superhero?

“That’s a tough one. I would have to say Spiderman. I find him to be a fantastic superhero. I admire how he navigates using his webs and moves stealthily. He’s definitely my favorite superhero.”
