The Virginia Institute of Marine Science has revealed its schedule for January.
A Discovery Lab titled “Swimming with Sharks” is set to occur from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 15, at the Catlett-Burruss Research and Education Lab located on the VIMS campus at Gloucester Point.
Discover everything about shark anatomy, species, behavior, and conservation. Paul Clerkin, a graduate student from William & Mary Batten School of Coastal & Marine Sciences and shark aficionado, will share insights from his research on sharks and eDNA (environmental DNA).
Discovery Labs are complimentary programs offered each month by the Chesapeake Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve in Virginia (CBNERR-VA) at VIMS.
Created with elementary-aged children and their guardians in mind, each lab zeroes in on a unique theme concerning the Chesapeake Bay and its surroundings, featuring exhibits, demonstrations, and hands-on activities, along with a brief talk by a specialist on the topic.
