“2025 Travel Dreams: Boston.com Readers Set Their Global Destinations!”

Readers of Boston.com are envisioning an overseas getaway in 2025.

During an informal survey regarding their travel intentions this year, 78 percent of our audience expressed a desire to travel internationally. Subsequently, 20 percent indicated they prefer trips within the U.S., while 2 percent expressed interest in traveling within New England.

Discover the destinations local inhabitants are eager to visit this year below.

“Our family intends to travel for the initial seven months of 2025 and we are particularly excited about visiting Southeast Asia,” mentioned Katrina from Sharon.

Pete from the North Shore and Tom from Quincy both desire a visit to Ireland. Tom is also interested in exploring the Maritime Provinces of Canada. Meanwhile, Carol from Boston dreams of Iceland, Greenland, and Scotland.

“All I require now is the funding,” Carol stated.

Josephine from Brookline specifically aims to explore the Shetland Islands in Scotland and is open to traveling alone.

“I became enchanted with them through a book with black and white images in the library during my childhood,” she shared. “Later I took up knitting, and the idea of being on an island where sheep outnumber humans was appealing to me. The scenery was also enticing because of my passion for black and white film photography.
Oh, I wouldn’t take anyone with me. Can’t think of anyone in my life who would be adventurous enough to trek in wind, rain, stones, and frigid waters.”

Phil from Scituate yearns to witness the Norwegian fjords, Bill from Newton dreams of traveling to Raja Ampat, Spud from Andover contemplates Japan, and Bob from Stoughton wishes to explore Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada.

“Exceptional skiing and stunning scenery,” Bob mentioned regarding Banff.

Marie from Chelsea wishes to travel to Italy, Jay from Acton longs for Sydney, Australia, and Liam, a native of New Bedford, is imagining Spain.

“The Costa Brava in the Catalonia region of Spain is breathtaking,” Liam noted. “Visitors can trek from one village to another along a rugged and beautiful shoreline. Fresh seafood and cultural experiences are plentiful. Exploring with family is feasible as the walking trails are well-maintained.”

Greg from Acton is willing to visit any of the following places: Poland, Hungary, Austria, and the Czech Republic. At the same time, Mike from Saugus is considering Germany.

“I studied there once and still comprehend a good amount of the language,” Mike mentioned. “It’s pristine,has excellent public transit, and significantly reduced crime compared to this nation. I would also love to revisit Stockholm, a surprisingly stunning metropolis.”

While many readers dream of traveling abroad, some express enthusiasm for exploring destinations within the U.S. this year. Bob from Merrimack is eager to visit Maui, while Greta from Northborough is arranging trips to California’s Death Valley National Park and Joshua Tree National Park.

“I will be traveling with my family because I adore nature and wish to experience a different type of scenery than what New England offers,” she mentioned.
