CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The wrestling team of North Dakota State’s Kyle Burwick and Max Petersen advanced to the semifinals on the opening day of the 2025 Southern Scuffle on Saturday, hosted by the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga at McKenzie Arena.

Burwick excelled early, finishing 4-0 in his section of the 133-pound category, including an upset victory over #25 Blake Boarman of Chattanooga to secure his place in the semifinals. Burwick began with three bonus-point wins, comprised of a pair of shutout major decisions and a tech fall, before clinching a reversal in the tiebreaker round to triumph over Boarman.
