“Georgia State Dominates Louisiana with Stellar Performances from McMullen, Lane, and Edwards”

ATLANTA, GA —Nick McMullen, Toneari Lane and Cesare Edwards each achieved at least 20 points to propel the Georgia State men’s basketball squad over the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns 94-70 at home on Saturday.

“I believe our players have largely assembled, a well-rounded game concerning the carefulness we dedicated to executing the appropriate plays,” head coach Joans Hayes remarked. “[I] adored the spirit tonight, but we must continue to progress.”

The Panthers (5-10, 1-2) had four participants scoring in double digits, spearheaded by McMullen, who finished with a double-double including 22 points and 14 rebounds. Lane contributed 21 points and four assists, while Edwards added 20 points, seven rebounds, and two blocks.

Georgia State effectively collaborated during Saturday’s match, accumulating 17 assists on 32 effective field goals. Individually, Malachi Brown led the Panthers with four assists.

The defense of Georgia State restricted Louisiana to a mere 20 percent shooting from the three-point line and 35.7 percent overall.

How It Unfolded

After trailing 13-12, Georgia State launched an 11-0 run with 13:26 remaining in the initial half, concluding with a score from Lane, which granted them a 23-13 advantage. The Panthers subsequently added nine more points to their lead by the close of the period, entering halftime at 51-32.

Georgia State sustained its lead before embarking on a 6-0 run, widening the gap to 92-70 with just 32 seconds left in the game. The Panthers continued to extend their lead and comfortably finished the contest with a 94-70 victory. Georgia State dominated the paint, scoring 22 of their 43 points within the lane.
