Tull establishes school record as girls swim claims fifth in HHC

Sophomore Isabelle Tull achieved a school record in diving, guiding the New Palestine girls swimming and diving team to a fifth-place result at Saturday’s Hoosier Heritage Conference meet held in Shelbyville.
Tull recorded an 11-dive score of 345.75 to secure the conference championship and lead the Dragons’ team.
The Dragons amassed 232 points to finish fifth. Greenfield-Central (488), Delta (403), and Yorktown (290) secured the top three positions. The Dragons fell four points short of fourth-place Mt. Vernon but surpassed Shelbyville (176), Pendleton Heights (144), and New Castle (113).
Chloe Siler placed third in the 50 freestyle (24.37) and fifth in the 100 butterfly (1:02.04). Both performances rank as the second-best in school history.
Lillie Abernathy took fourth in the 100 breaststroke. Ireland Armstrong finished eighth in both the 500 freestyle and the 100 backstroke. Katie Kelley came in eighth in diving.
The 200 medley relay team consisting of Armstrong, Abernathy, Siler, and Rachel Hamilton finished in fourth place. Their time of 1:57.73 marks the seventh-best in school history. The 200 free relay assembly of Abernathy, Cadyn Brown, Hamilton, and Siler also finished fourth. The 400 free relay team comprised of Isabelle Singer, Piper Schaefer, Ansley Tucker, and Armstrong secured the seventh position.
The next competition for the Dragons girls is scheduled for Jan. 16 at home against Shelbyville.
