LA JOLLA, Calif. – The 12th-ranked women’s Wisconsin swimming and diving squad triumphed in every event except one during a triple dual meet against UC San Diego and UCLA on Saturday afternoon.
The Badgers secured first and third place finishes in both the 200 medley relay and the 400 freestyle relay. The medley relay quartet consisting of Maggie Wanezek, Hazal Ozkan, Phoebe Bacon, and Hailey Tierney had already achieved an NCAA “A” cut at the Texas Invite, and they clinched first place today with a time of 1:39.68.
Hazal Ozkan achieved two additional first place finishes in the 50 breast and the 100 breast events. Phoebe Bacon also excelled in the 100 IM and the 100 fly. Hailey Tierney was not far behind, placing within a second of Bacon in the 100 fly, while also securing first place in the 50 free.
The Badgers demonstrated a solid performance in the 500 free, with Abby Carlson leading the team to a first place finish with a time of 4:51.49. Other Badgers followed with second, fourth, fifth, and sixth place finishes. Carlson also came in first in the 100 free.

UW concluded the day with a victory in the 400 free relay, with the A team composed of A. Carlson, P. Bacon, A. Wanezek, B. Stoneburg recording a time of 3:22.53.
