The Golden Globes for 2025 were awarded on Sunday evening.
Emilia Pérez clinched the title of best motion picture — musical or comedy and also best non-English language film, while Zoe Saldaña secured the best supporting actress accolade for her role. The film’s track “El Mal” was awarded best original song.
On the other hand, The Brutalist was recognized as the best motion picture — drama. Brady Corbet earned the title of best director for this film, while his leading actor Adrien Brody took home the best actor in a drama award.
Flow received the award for best animated film. Wicked was honored with the award for cinematic and box office success.
Shogun was crowned best drama series, with Anna Sawai, Hiroyuki Sanada and Tadanobu Asano recognized for their performances in the series.
Hacks took home the title of best TV series — musical or comedy, with Jean Smart winning an award for her role. Baby Reindeer triumphed in the best limited series, anthology series, or movie made for TV category, while Jessica Gunning earned an accolade for her performance.
Fernanda Torres, Kieran Culkin, Jeremy Allen White, Colin Farrell, Sebastian Stan, Demi Moore, and Jodie Foster were also among the individual award winners. Ali Wong was recognized for her exceptional stand-up performance on television.
Elsewhere, Peter Straughan was awarded best film screenplay for Conclave, while Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross bagged best original score for Challengers.
Nikki Glaser was the host for the event, where accolades across 27 categories in film and television were distributed. (Don’t miss the red carpet arrivals.)
On Friday evening, Viola Davis received the Cecil B. DeMille Award, and Ted Danson was honored with the Carol Burnett Award at the Golden Globes’ first-ever Golden Gala. Previously, these two awards had been given during the live broadcast, but this year they were awarded during a special event attended by luminaries such as Jane Fonda, Meryl Streep, Mary Steenburgen, Carol Burnett, Anthony Anderson, and Babyface.
This represented the second Golden Globes event since its longstanding supporter, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, was replaced after Dick Clark Productions and Eldridge acquired all the HFPA’s assets, rights, and properties. Instead of the HFPA, a diverse group of voters from various racial and ethnic backgrounds, comprising journalists from around the globe, now selects the nominees and winners. (Dick Clark Productions currently owns and oversees the Golden Globe Awards, with DCP being owned by Penske Media Eldridge, a collaboration between Penske Media Corporation and Eldridge, which also owns The Hollywood Reporter.)
The 82nd annual Golden Globe Awards were broadcast live from the Beverly Hilton on CBS and were available for streaming on Paramount+. Emmy-winning producers Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner served as showrunners for another consecutive year.
