HERRIMAN, Utah and CHICAGO, Illinois (Jan. 7, 2024) – Utah Royals FC goalkeeper Mandy McGlynn and midfielder Ally Sentnor have been selected by U.S. Women’s National Team head coach Emma Hayes to a 26-player squad for the year-opening training camp, set to occur from January 14-21 at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, Calif.

McGlynn secured her inaugural USWNT appearance in October 2024, achieving a clean sheet in a 3-0 triumph over Argentina. The remarkable Royals goalkeeper had an unprecedented season for the Royals in 2024, recording 84 saves throughout the regular season, a record previously held by Nicole Barnhart. McGlynn was nominated for Save of the Week on eight occasions, winning once for her push save against Washington Spirit on June 8th.

Sentnor marked her first senior USWNT cap in front of an audience of over 76,000 at a filled Wembley Stadium in London, substituting in late for Lindsay Horan during a 0-0 stalemate. Just three days later, Coach Hayes summoned Sentnor once more, this time in the final minutes of a 2-1 win against the Netherlands at Bingoal Stadium. The Rookie of the Year contender experienced a breakout season for the Royals in 2024 after being chosen as the top overall pick in the 2024 NWSL Draft. Sentnor topped URFC’s goal scorers in all tournaments with seven while achieving three goals and four assists in 21 starts of NWSL matches.

Even though a training camp was not conducted at the beginning of 2024, the January training camp has become a fixture of the USWNT agenda for several years. The training week in January will not encompass any international matches but will occur simultaneously with a 24-player Futures Camp, highlighting emerging USWNT talents. That roster will be unveiled tomorrow.

The roster for the USWNT January training camp excludes any of the USA’s players based in Europe since it occurs outside an official FIFA international window. Additionally, the “Triple Espresso” forward line of Trinity Rodman, Sophia Smith, and Mallory Swanson will not participate, as each is undergoing off-season rest and rehabilitation from injuries. Midfielder Rose Lavelle, who recently had ankle surgery, will also be absent. With merely 11 of the 22 members of the 2024 gold medal-winning Olympic Team present at camp, this provides chances for other players. Accordingly, Hayes has invited six uncapped players who will be experiencing their first senior team training camp and a total of 13 players with three or fewer caps.

“We aim to continue to nurture an environment and culture within the National Team that is centered around players and female athletes, aiding them in maximizing their skills,” stated Hayes. “Experiencing positive, growth opportunities with the USWNT will be beneficial for their careers and assist us in cultivating a deeper player pool. I’m genuinely excited about hitting the field with these players and those in the Futures Camp to accomplish a solid week of training with both groups without necessitating any adjustments for the influence a match would have on our loading and training strategy. I can’t wait.”
