From Critique to Creation: Life Is Strange Developer Invites Player Insights on Double Exposure

Given Deck Nine‘s achievements in its previous installment, Life is Strange: Double Exposure appeared to be an assured success. The developer scored a critical triumph with True Colors, and the return of Max Caulfield sparked excitement among fans. Regrettably, it did not achieve the same heights as its forerunner, prompting Square Enix to seek player feedback.

A recent communication titled “Calling all Life Is Strange enthusiasts: We wish to hear from YOU!” has invited fans to take part in a 15-minute online questionnaire. The survey starts with some general inquiries based on your responses, but ultimately poses questions tailored to Life is Strange: Double Exposure.

A significant portion of the survey addresses players of Life is Strange: Double Exposure regarding the caliber of the game’s narrative, features, and technical execution. Most of this is evaluated on a 5-point scale ranging from “Very Dissatisfied” to “Very Satisfied.” It also inquires whether players felt the game was worth the purchase and if their experience with Double Exposure influenced their desire to play a new installment in the series.

Life is Strange: Double Exposure was released in 2024 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. It received mixed reviews, achieving a 73 metascore on Metacritic. At our sister site ComingSoon.net, Tyler Treese awarded it a seven out of ten, stating, “Life is Strange: Double Exposure lacks the charm of Max Caulfield’s first journey and is not as well-crafted as Deck Nine’s previous title, True Colors.”

In contrast, True Colors garnered generally positive feedback upon its release in 2021, receiving an 81 metascore on Metacritic. ComingSoon.net remarked in their eight out of ten review, “Boasting a powerful narrative, well-developed characters, and some of the finest writing the series has presented so far, Life Is Strange: True Colors is a resounding success.”
