Vice President Kamala Harris is poised to commence a rapid farewell journey next week, taking the defeated 2024 Democratic presidential candidate to Asia, the Middle East, and Europe during the closing days of the Biden administration.

Harris, 60, is slated to engage with foreign dignitaries and U.S. service members located in Singapore, Bahrain, and Germany throughout the five-day excursion, which is scheduled from January 13 to January 17, highlighting both her and President Biden’s achievements during their single term in office.

“During her travels, the Vice President will highlight the achievements of the Biden-Harris Administration over the last four years in each area, the U.S. collaboration with these nations, the contributions of U.S. armed forces to regional and global security, and the persistent national security interests of the United States,” the White House announced in a statement on Tuesday.

Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff will accompany Harris on her final global trek as vice president and “interact with community leaders, including religious figures and families of servicemembers,” the White House confirmed.

This expedition will enable Harris to add Bahrain to her list of countries visited, which she has not been to in her role as vice president, making the island nation in the Persian Gulf—the one she mispronounced as “Beh-ran” only two years ago—the 22nd country she has visited at taxpayers’ expense.

Previously, she has traveled to Germany and Singapore during her vice presidency.

Critics on social media mocked Harris for taking this international trip in her waning days in office.

“Seriously, couldn’t that have been communicated via text?” conservative columnist Liz Peek remarked on X, referring to the White House announcement where Harris will promote the Biden administration’s “achievements.”

“What is the ‘carbon footprint’ of this absurd and ludicrous travel?” another commenter added.
