Overview & Week 1
I commenced a new 365-Day photographic endeavor, which I am referring to as 52 Weeks of Photography, back on Christmas Eve. Although it spans an entire year, I plan to approach it one week at a time. This marks the second week—the next sequence of seven images. I am thrilled to undertake this, and hope you enjoy accompanying me on this venture.
The motivation behind this daily photo initiative stems from realizing some voids between my images over the previous year. I haven’t been consistently picking up my cameras on a daily basis. There were multiple instances where four to five days went by without a single photo taken. On two occasions in 2024, I missed capturing an entire week. I aim to correct this and re-establish the routine of daily photography. Additionally, I wish to enhance the quality of my art in 2025, and I am hopeful that this will aid in that pursuit.
The strategy is to document a year’s worth of remarkable images, either personally or artistically. Ansel Adams famously remarked, “Twelve significant photographs in any one year is a good crop.” Setting realistic expectations is vital; however, I also want to avoid uninspired snapshots merely to satisfy the day’s requirement. I aim to challenge myself to improve, and I trust that will occur. Not every shot will be outstanding—in fact, the majority won’t—but I hope they are at least acceptable to share without shame.
